Physiotherapy for the
Rivierenbuurt.

The neighbourhood sits east of us, past the RAI. A bicycle is the straightforward way. Walking the whole distance is close to 50 minutes, which is a long prelude to a short session.

Getting here

West via Rooseveltlaan. The Amstel is not a shortcut.

From the middle of the Rivierenbuurt a measured cycling route is about 3.7 km and 19 minutes: Victorieplein, Rooseveltlaan, then toward Europaboulevard and De Boelelaan, and south to Arent Janszoon Ernststraat. On foot the same idea is about 50 minutes. The eastern streets, toward the Amstel, are a similar ride: about 3.6 km and 48 minutes on foot, or 18 minutes by bike.

There is no quiet cut-through. The Amstel and the RAI sit between the neighbourhood and Buitenveldert. For public transport, plan a trip to Amsterdam Zuid or to Gelderlandplein in the GVB planner and walk the last part. From Amsterdam Zuid station the remaining walk is 1.1 km, about 15 minutes. From Gelderlandplein it is about five minutes west. We are not naming a tram line from the Rivierenbuurt, because we have not verified one for this door.

A residential neighbourhood

Backs, knees, and sport in a neighbourhood of streets.

The Rivierenbuurt is housing, the Amstel, and small parks, not an office district. The complaints that travel with that are the ones we see.

Who treats

One physiotherapist. Three languages.

Hidekazu Kuwabara is a BIG-registered physiotherapist. He has also completed the International Toyohari Training Program (Japanese meridian therapy) of the European Branch of the Toyohari Association (EBTA), and brings a background in Japanese acupuncture to how he understands the body. Sessions are in English, Dutch or Japanese.

Questions

From this neighbourhood.

How do I get there from the Rivierenbuurt?+
By bike, about 19 minutes from the middle of the neighbourhood, via Victorieplein and Rooseveltlaan toward Europaboulevard. Walking is about 50 minutes. The Amstel side is a similar distance. Use the GVB planner for a ride to Amsterdam Zuid or Gelderlandplein if you are not cycling. We have not published a tram line number for this trip.
Is a 25-minute session worth a 50-minute walk?+
Usually not. Come by bike, or combine public transport with the 15-minute walk from Amsterdam Zuid station. Book 55 minutes if you want the longer assessment on the same day as the ride.
Do you treat in Dutch?+
Yes. Sessions are in Dutch, English or Japanese, with Hidekazu Kuwabara, a BIG-registered physiotherapist.
What should I book?+
A physiotherapy session: €68 for 25 minutes or €126 for 55 minutes. No referral is required to book. Insurer reimbursement depends on your own supplementary policy.
Is dry needling something I book separately?+
No. When it is used, it is part of the physiotherapy session. Read dry needling in Amsterdam for how it sits inside the session.
WHEN YOU'RE READY

One session.
A different understanding.

The first session is for listening — your history, your pattern, your goal. Treatment begins the same day.
